Programme

The ESADE Alumni Girona Club is pleased to invite you to a lecture entitled 'Family and Non-family Managers in Family Businesses', which will take place on Thursday, 21st June. This session will focus on the professionalisation of the decision-making bodies in family businesses and offer greater understanding of the role of family and non-family managers.

- Family board: This body controls the family's participation in the business based on a key document: the family agreement.
- Board of owners: This body includes all owners, both family members and non-family members. It is the main body for business and legal concerns.
- Board of directors: This body includes major shareholders and, in certain cases, external advisers. It controls day-to-day management and designs and plans medium- and long-term strategies.
- Management committee: This body, which includes the family and non-family managers, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company.

For the professionalisation of the management committee, we use managerial coaching - that is, we accompany the managers in their daily activities to improve their technical abilities, managerial skills and self-esteem. With this training method, short-term management is not neglected. The method can be adapted to each company's needs. The coach acts as a safety net for the company and the managers - especially those who are family members.
